My name is Heinz Speyer and painting is my hobby, I just like what I do, most people have something they are passionate about and enjoy.... I just happen to really enjoy painting. I am a member of the Hutt Art Society. My palette includes a variety of subjects like landscapes, seascapes, still life and figuratives. My prefered medium is oil, but I work also in acrylics and mixed media. Lately I have started to enjoy drawing using pencils and love the control it gives me. My style can be described as contemporary realism and my oil paintings have a distinctive vibrancy. I love to capture the beauty of my immediate surroundings with clarity, strong colours and light and take a fresh look at the Hutt, Petone, Eastbourne and the Bays, the greater Wellington region as well as Kapiti and the Wairarapa and use mainly my own photographs.
As my background is graphic design and commercial art, I also enjoy creating modern, decorative images and use a variety of different media to express my artistic freedom. My easel paintings and my decorative images are not at odds with each other. They are complimentary, each stimulating new insights and creative energy.
I exhibit locally and my paintings can be viewed occasionally at the Hutt Art Odlin Gallery and Huia Gallery, some Cafes in Lower Hutt, occasionally at Lewis Paape Gallery and Gallery 23 in Carterton and Inspiration Gallery, Wainuiomata. Also in Petone is Alfred Memelink's Artspace Gallery at 223 The Esplanade, were I am able to exhibit work that relates to Petone, the Hutt and the Wellington region.
I welcome commissions and would be pleased to discuss the process and pricing with you by email [email protected]
